From Reference to Refresh
Using existing reference maps, photos, and our very own eyes our illustrators were able to debut a new illustrated map in time for the fall season!
Starting by reconstructing the bird’s-eye view from their existing satellite-imaged map, our illustrators worked to define a warm and whimsical art style. Rounded shapes and bright colors were key to making the map inviting, while landmarks were carefully placed to help visitors discover the orchard’s many adventures.
Visiting the Orchard
A lot of thought went into deciding which elements of the grounds should be included in this map. In addition to the mix of attractions, additional importance was placed on clearly designating parking areas for ease and accessibility. Out of this discussion grew a number of map iterations and varying inclusions until the right balance was achieved. Once key features were styled and placed, things really started to take shape!
In order to get the perspective correct and understand the lay of the land just right, we paid a special visit to the orchard. There, we saw the corn pit, mega slide, bubble hut, and more with our very own eyes. This helped us put on the finishing touches and adjust all the elements into one cohesive illustrated map.

Once the design was complete, we made sure it was accessible in all the ways it needed to be. It’s visible on their website, available as a downloadable PDF, and a large-format sign on the Apple Jack Orchards property.
